Our founder and owner, Dorothy Jacobs, was raised in church.  While on a retreat in 1984 she found the Lord during a supernatural experience and was reborn.  From that moment and continuing to this day,  Dorothy knows that Jesus is a very loving and personal God.  She knew that she was to serve, worship, and love this Lord in any manner He had chosen for her.  Shortly thereafter, Dorothy was lead to open a Christian Bookstore.  After a few years of studying and learning the Word, Harvest Christian Bookstore was opened in the Fall of 1988 on the Southside of Chicago.  God has blessed this business beyond measure and by His grace the store continues to operate a few blocks from it's original location.  Dorothy continues to serve the Lord with the same same zeal and commitment that began on that Sunday morning in 1984.
